Our family foundations

United by purpose. Guided by shared values.

Beginning in 1996, individual foundations were established for each branch of the family to pursue their own philanthropic interests, creating what has now become a multi-generational tradition of generosity. Today, our family of foundations are united by their shared status as supporting organizations of the Omaha Community Foundation and their belief in impact through investing.

Our family of foundations.

Each foundation utilizes a shared staff, while operating with its own focus, governance and charitable priorities, ensuring that the family’s collective giving reaches a wide range of causes and communities.

Created in 2014, the Walter Scott Family Foundation is a private foundation that funds a wide variety of initiatives, from community improvement to large-scale capital projects. The Foundation also serves as a coordinating vehicle for larger, collective philanthropic efforts of the family foundations.

Parker Family Foundation

Directed by Walter’s daughter, Sandy, and her husband, Dave Parker, this foundation supports a range of philanthropic interests — from athletics and education to community well-being — with a focus on helping people lead healthy, fulfilled lives.

Singer Foundation

Led by Suzanne’s son, Bill, and his wife, Lynette Singer, this foundation invests in arts, culture, education and human services, fostering creativity and connection within their communities.

A foundation can give grants, but I think a foundation should be more. It should have an impact through investing.
